Thales has built his career in corporate law by combining litigation and advisory work, experience in corporate transactions, and a solid academic background. Over his more than 25-year career, he has led complex business matters and M&A deals across a variety of sectors.
He divides his professional time between the São Paulo and Belo Horizonte offices, a dynamic that reflects his approach to practicing law: staying close to clients and attentive to the contexts in which their decisions are made. His practice begins with a broad understanding of the business and each specific issue to build legally sound solutions that are aligned with the client's objectives.
He holds a law degree and a Master’s in Commercial Law from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and balances his legal practice with a long-standing academic career. He has been a professor of Corporate Law at the Milton Campos Law School since 2002 and is a faculty member for various postgraduate programs in Corporate Law.
Arbitration plays a significant role in his practice. He is on the CAMARB list of arbitrators and has experience handling business disputes as a sole arbitrator, president of arbitral tribunals, and co-arbitrator.
His experience also extends to the corporate and institutional environment. Throughout his career, he has served on boards of directors and corporate committees for various companies, as well as on the Legal Board of FIESP, in addition to regularly participating in debates and lectures on topics related to Corporate Law.
